Chairman Jones Receives NC Civil Rights Trail Marker

Posted by on Jun 10, 2023 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Saturday, June 3, 2023 was a historic day in Northampton County, NC. James H. Jones’ NC Civil Rights Trail Marker was dedicated and unveiled at Northampton County Schools Central Services, 701 N. Church St., Jackson, NC 27845. His marker is historic–the first of ANY kind recognizing an African American in the predominantly black populated county of Northampton in eastern NC. It was a beautiful day, a short yet memorable program featuring Civil Rights Historian, Author, and Duke University Professor, Dr. Timothy B. Tyson, a joyful crowd, and a beautiful marker. The Marker was dedicated, in part, to all of those who came before who left their marks… but do not have markers… and to all whose decisions and actions affect the lives of children.
